Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.  To be honest I have no problems 
with the "sponsorship" mode.  Never clicked through, so it probably doesn't 
do anything useful and it's probably a massive traffic load on Qualcomm 
servers.

Qualcomm has always been really good with user feedback, including new 
features and things like that.  I think many might feel they conform to the 
overall practices of open source, but haven't really had a need to release 
the code before.

Perhaps they have reached the "ultimate" limit?

Guess we'll see.
