I'd put this down to semantics of English expression, and context:

'Top posting is evil'

Translation...

'From my perspective, I think that top posting is very bad form, and  
I feel strongly enough about it to suggest that everyone should agree  
with me. I am happy to have a robust debate about the issue, if only  
to convince you all of the error of your ways.'
