I don't think you are, BRD. I also do this, particularly if I want to 
point out:
- this is forwarded, and the source
- the reason for forwarding
- any particular points in the info quoted that relates to something 
going on in conversation on the list(s) (I find this often when there 
is a thread running on Link that also fits the interests of the 
Privacy group (Roger does, too))

Obviously in this case, the info may not have been seen by the 
members, as Marghanita points out as a consideration.

I also find Roger's embedded comments in postings from elsewhere, 
with the [ ] approach to be easier to deal with than putting all at 
the top or bottom, as the comments are then understandable and you 
don't have to scroll up and down to find the relevant bits. We used 
to do that in some pass-around books by underlining and making notes 
in the margins. It's an interesting way to get someone's opinion as 
they may see the info different from you and you can then consider 
that view as well as your own.
