no, post '96. late '90s and early 2000s. after whenever it was that kre
decided that he wasn't going to process any more .org.au unless they met
his (undocumented and arbitrary) standards. i.e. only if he felt like
it.

yep, there was no difficulty then. i think you might even have still
been able to get .oz.au domains then (not 100% sure about that, that may
have ended by the early 90s...i'm going from memory, not from notes or a
diary).
