I don't particularly feel like searching out which standards body MS has 
submitted all of these to, but at least some of them are associated with 
W3C standards. The MS statement is, in fact, a boilerplate used to 
ensure that its proposals don't either get locked up in committee 
processes or abandoned.

In fact, what CNet has discovered is that MS has followed a policy quite 
normal in W3C processes - there are many other Patent Statements listed 
on the W3C site, and some of them contain almost identical forms of 
words... Memo to Cnet: "News to me" doesn't necessarily mean "News'. As 
for IP Central's blog, do we also have "Toshiba plays nice", "Cisco 
plays nice" and so on associated with IETF patent statements?
