Yes, for some distributions. Other, more desktop-oriented distributions 
(like Ubuntu and Fedora Core) have made the complexities of configuring 
printing much simpler in their recent versions.

But I do agree: printing is one of the most complicated desktop 
requirement in a lot of distributions still.
