yes, i mentioned that here on LINK on Sep 12.

if you do configure it to allow access from other machines, you can (and
should!) generate a SSL certificate and access it by https only. i use
this to maintain a print queue at another location with its own ADSL
connection (not that it requires much maintainence...but it's useful on
the rare occasion when i need to acesss it).

nope. previous attempts dont matter. when adding or configuring a
printer, it always gives you a popup list of all known manufacturers,
then another popup list of all models made by that manufacturer. if
configuring an existing printer, then the current manuf and model are
the defaults.

yep. that's something that definitely needs better documentation. like
you, i figured it out by trial and error....even so, it still didn't
take more than 5 or 10 minutes to configure two printers (one local on a
parallel port, the other networked connected to the USB port on another
linux box)
