Several of us have suggested that LCDs offer higher res than CRT - but is that true?

My 21" Sony Trinitron seems to me to be higher res than any LCD I've ever seen and, as an amateur photographer, don't even talk to me about the quality and subtlety of colour rendition on an LCD vs a good CRT. 

Am I imagining it, or have I just not been lucky enough to see a good quality LCD yet?
