Yep, congratulations to Simon Hackett who started Internode after I was
already routing IP traffic across the land.
And to think, it could have been me, but then I'm glad it wasn't.
This is an excellent use of Government (multiple levels) money, and more
importantly shows that a Council saw it's expenditure and investment into
the project was more important than paying a Telstra Phone Bill each month.
The cost reduction being greater than expected is probably due to an
increase in use of the overall services because people feel more free to
use something that isn't costing two arms and a leg (especially if they are
farmers in a drought) than paying a Telstra bill for something that partly
works some of the time. (smile)
If only other State Governments and Councils were so forthcoming.
