Getting back to Websites.

One of the things I did around 1992, was assist the CPSU in drawing up
roles and responsibilities of generic ICT people in organisations. For
me this was a new exercise and I only provided input about my experience
as an ICT person and the kinds of attributes for the jobs. The union
successfully argued for a payrise based on based on these
skills/responsibilities. However, it was ironic, that by the time it
went through, I was actually employed under a different award. But it
was interesting observing the whole Industrial Relations process - which
was based on capital vs labour, management (most of whom were employees)
vs other class of employees.

By 1996, I was extolling the virtues of outsourcing the hosting of a
website.....which I have done successfully with two ISPs both on Apache
Servers since 1997.

But ofcourse other aspects of websites are not quite as mature.
Before we can discuss professionalism (a definition of which would be
most welcome), ethics and liability,
we need to understand what is expected of:
Authors
Graphic Artists
Architects,
Designers,
Programmers,
Webmasters/Mistresses,
E-Business Managers,
Online Managers,
Project Managers,
Software Vendors/Open Source,
ISPs,
Regulators,
W3C and other standards groups.
any other players?

Maybe we will see a reassertion of guilds
