But under new laws to go before Federal Parliament next week, the
warrant can be issued by the head of a police service or a security
agency, bypassing judicial oversight.

"If the police don't trust the judges, how are we supposed to trust
the police?" Mr Clapperton said.

Wow, I'm not sure Dale realises what he's just said there.

If the police don't trust Judges, and we don't trust the
police. What do the police do when they arrest people? Not take
them before judges? Beg for laws to ensure that another Haneef
incident doesn't occur.

I can see Guantanamo Bay Laws being created in Australia. Innocent
people will be terrorised by local "authorities" who are acting in a
Draconian fashion on the heresay out of context words and phrases, or
selective snippets of a persons conversation - leading to "Missing
Persons" reports that of course the police will deny, and waste OTHER
police time on searches, or maybe there will be a 'code of silence'
process whereby you local police are told "We know where X is, there
is no requirement for further contact at this time."

Innocent Husbands and Wives will think their partner, children,
parents etc have run off and left them and don't love them any more.

What an awesome world we live in.

All human beings are equal, just some are more equal than others.
