Earlier this year the New South Wales Government was able to provide a broadband
connection to Muswellbrook High School by connecting into the fibre optic cable
running alongside our rail lines. We ran similar pilots in nine schools
throughout the State and the result was that Internet download times were up to
20 times faster. For example, at one school, data that previously took 20
minutes to download now takes only about one minute?an extraordinary increase in
capacity. Now that Muswellbrook High School is connected to broadband through
our State-owned cable, it is investigating Internet video streaming in the
classroom, which will be a great facility."
