When I go to the Australian IT web site:
http://www.australianit.news.com.au/
I get an IE warning message:
"A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.
Do you want to abort the script?"
And then a dialog box with another warning "Out of memory at line: 56"
I'm running a locked down corporte SOE, so I can't turn off javascript (which I assume is what is running)
Can anyone with a non IE browser check out if it is just IE or a really badly designed web site (or both)?
I've had a quick look at the source and I'm not an HTML expert but these lines caught my attention and keep repeating throughout the page:
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">
<!-- Hide from old browsers
// Cache-busting and pageid values
random = Math.round(Math.random() * 100000000);
if (!pageNum) var pageNum = Math.round(Math.random() * 100000000);
document.write('<SCR');
document.write('IPT TYPE="TEXT/JAVASCRIPT" SRC="http://mercury.tiser.com.au/jserver/acc_random=' + random + '/SITE=AIT/AREA=NEWS.HOME/AAMSZ=468X60/pageid=' + pageNum + '">');
document.write('</SCR');
document.write('IPT>');
// End Hide -->
</SCRIPT>
The redesigned Australian IT site is far less useful than it used to be, so, what with this inconvenience, I think I'll give it a miss in the future.
