Good point. In the 1980s oil shock, the use of videoconferencing 
skyrocketed in response. I believe there was also some concern about 
safety in travel during that era re wars or terrorism. The high-price 
executives of that time preferred to stay safe.

(If someone else has said this already, I apologise. I'm just 
catching up on the thread from today -- I think something has struck 
a Link-nerve!)
