They've taken your advice Tony.  I've just paid for a couple of flights to
New Zealand for 10 days stay.  Ticket price $90 each way.  But then you need
to $200 each in departure taxes and airport fees, plus $100 + each way in a
taxi to get to the airport.  Same again at the other end.

Plus my wife's passport only had a month to run after we returned, and the
Kiwi's won't allow you to enter the Land-of-the-long-white-shroud without a
few months spare time on the passport (I think it is 3 months extra).

So that has cost another $190 for a new passport, and to guarantee that it
will be delivered on time, the Passport office charges another $80 excess
charge for it to be returned in under a couple of weeks.

The Kiwi's better turn on good weather after all this.  I could have driven
down to Tasmania for less.
