The problem here is the old one of causality. Surely, unless you believe
the 'mind' is something non-physical -- eg a soul -- then it is the body
that effects the mental state, rather than the other way around.
Or perhaps it is the body that effects/affects the mind, which then
a/effects the body in a chain of consequences. People who are ill,
generally feel lousy. People who are dying, generally get depressed unless
they are drugged up (and they often are, without knowing it in hospital).
