Dictionary definitions are useful in so far as one understands the context to
which the word will be applied, I suppose. One only need consider the humble
word 'set' that has hundreds of definitions to choose from, ranging from a
heavenly body dropping below the horizon, to the outcome of putting one's
jelly mixture into the fridge.

As for a definition of 'website' that would satisfy a judge, it would be
wisest to walk away, if it is at all legally possible! The following
sequence of 'question : listener' couplets and associated definitional
clarity comments reveals why:

- CEO shouts, "Why is the website down!?" : IT support (Absolutely clear)
- "Have you checked out *that* website?" person asks friend : friend
(Absolutely clear)
- "What is a website?" a judge asks a lawyer : lawyer (Expert witness
required)

It is also more fun to disagree with people than dictionaries, especially when
the topic of 'website' vs 'web site' arises in mixed company...
