Pretty much. I set up a web page some years back to do the work of data
extraction, smoothing, curve-fitting and prediction via a script that
runs every day. The script is currently predicting an IANA pool IPv4
exhaustion in April 2010, and the first RIR to run out in November 2010.
Its a pretty optimistic prediction method and it does not take into
account any form of last-chance run, nor the fine-grained level of
fragmentation in some of the older address blocks that make some of the
space unuseable. So early 2010 is a reasonable estimate given the recent
data.
