that, and any similar plan, should be banned, for two reasons:

1. prisoners aren't free to make a truly voluntary donation.  it's a form of
coercion.

2. it creates a conflict of interest in the legal system, an incentive
to give greater sentences than a given crime actually deserves in order
to create an "incentive" for the felon to donate an organ.

ps: IMO, a kidney is worth a LOT more than 180 days.  ONLY half a year
for an organ? not only is the scheme morally reprehensible, it's a
rip-off.
