Hi Jan

Loved the NY-Ldn directions, thank you :-)

You've also found the fun to be had here. Not wanting to seem picky but ....

That doesn't seem to end up in the right place for me - it's showing a spot close to the Qld border, and that isn't Uluru.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=uluru&ie=UTF8&ll=-25.344336,131.029472&spn=0.147693,0.269165&t=k&z=12&om=1
works better. If you zoom right in, around the 10 o'clock position you can see the main car park and climbers chain.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure that's the right area, sorry. That's an area south of Beijing, and I don't recall any section of the Great Wall being there. I saw a map at the Powerhouse/Melbourne Museum exhibition, and all the segments were north of Beijing. Your find is interesting, but doesn't seem to be on any wall map I can find. I found:

http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing/greatwall.htm

Badaling, northwest of Beijing, is the 'classic' great wall section in many tourist pictures.

shows the same section of country as the 'Beijing' district map above (note the two main reservoirs, and the great rectangle of the Forbidden City in Beijing). A search for 'badaling china' comes up with
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=badaling+china&sll=40.300476,116.38092&sspn=0.997081,2.15332&ie=UTF8&ll=40.33346,116.047211&spn=0.249149,0.53833&t=k&z=11&om=1
and a range of placemarkers; spot the large collection of carparks, and you can zoom right in and see people.

Yes, I've spent way too much time myself looking for things like the sites of the 80 treasures series :-). Closer to home though, I do have one unusual find:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=-35.463252,148.722943&spn=0.00208,0.004206&t=k&z=18&om=1
Took a while to work out what had happened here...

Cheers,
        Markus
