Once you have given consent, "database" would be updated to indicate 
that you have given consent to remove your leg... and therefore you have 
been presented to the right operation.

Also you medical database could advise the Doctor that you are allergic 
to Halothane. It could also advise that you recently were prescribe 
pharmaceuticals which your Anesthesiologists  has some concerns about.

It would also record all the medical instruments used in your operation 
(for backtracking)

etc.
