I guess the customers should be sending the order themselves on their
smart phones. ;-)
For a large restaurant it can be more efficient to use the wireless
PDA, but I have see a cafe with only one staff: they first took the
order, sent it to the kitchen, then walked into the kitchen and made
the order up.
Even Gus' cafe in Canberra succumbed <http://www.tomw.net.au/2001/gus/>.
Did the Mckinsey document actually make any suggestions as to how
productivity was to be increased, apart from just cutting funding? I
have suggested using similar wireless devices to the cafes for
running the government. Not that public servants are like waiters,
but because it will force the applications designers to make
something simple, clear and efficient
