Even the price in the US is a bit stiff.  The Eee PC has been a lot
more successful than Asus imagined and so the price has been maintained
rather than fallen.  At the moment Asus are making proportionally more
money of a Eee PC sale then off their standard laptops.

By choosing Myer as the introductory reseller I think you can guess
that they intend to exploit the currently unique nature of the machine
and maximise sale price.

Since the box doesn't really run Windows Xp (it can, but it's a dog)
the Eee PC answers a lot of questions about the acceptability of
desktop Linux.
