Same problem using Mozilla on Mac OS X.
But in Safari on the Mac it is fine.
I believe this could be a CSS conformance issue.
Take the CSS Acid2 test.
<http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html#top>
and compare to the reference page.

Safari passes with flying colours. Mozilla does not.
There are many other such tests available. I tried a few and Mozilla
is having a lot of problems with CSS, sadly.
cheers

P.S. As one who does have to code up web pages from time to time (something
I avoid if possible), it used to be hard enough getting HTML and JS working
across all platforms and browsers. The combinatorial explosion explodes
even more now since one has to also check for CSS 1 and CSS 2 compatibility.
I've gone back to analysis and programming. Web conformance crap is for
the youngsters IMHO :)
