Legal Tender rules only apply where there is no agreement beforehand
as to how payment is to be made.

eg, many places will not accept cash for payment (try paying Rent with
cash!), but as long as that's what has been agreed to previously then
it's completely legal and "legal tender" rules are not relevant.
