I strongly suspect that this is quite, quite false.

The greatest threats to children (that involve the Internet) are spam,
phishing efforts that may cost them money or long term identity
confusion problems, "cyber bullying" from within their own (extended)
peer group, embarrassment and possible future reputation issues from
their unwise use of forums like Facebook, and so on. And probably RSI,
of course - if not from the keyboarding then from something else, but
that's hardly a new issue.

It seems likely to me that actual child abuse from "Internet predators"
is a long, long, LONG way down the list of threats. Show me the numbers
if you want to change my mind. Real numbers, gathered by real
researchers. Not the rubbery (and in several cases apparently
*invented*) figures as bandied about by the pro-censorship brigade.

Show me the numbers.
