[LINK] Aussie 3G iPhone is a bad joke

This op piece has nothing to do with the iPhone, but everything to do
with the so-called 'service' that our telcos allegedly provide.
It's reprehensible that a telco can assume that the hype over a piece
of hardware will blind users into ignoring that there are actually
such things as 'data plans' - and that some might actually want one.
What it has proved, however, is that telcos will have to shake
themselves out of their comatose views on how people actually use
phones, and how convergence between voice and data is on their doorstep.
Incidentally, I didn't buy an iPhone, and nor shall I until the telcos
get their acts together. I do, nonetheless, admire the hardware as a
very interesting and capable device.

ps. Determining which is the best phone plan (no matter which phone)
still takes a degree in astrophysics, and a clear understanding of
what your likely call and data habits will be - in advance.
