Ah, thank you Richard. Was aware of the telephone exchange code, not the
least from Linked issues around access, didn't know we have one for masts.

So apparently there's no technical reason why in my town we have a splendid
H-beam and angle-iron triangulating and very tall tower, only overshadowed
by the wheat silo, in the middle of town, with ONE phone company arial :( 

Seems to me that real competition is the ONLY thing that will bring down
*exorbitant* mobile phone download fees, everywhere throughout Australia.

So we've no real technical/legal issue around getting more mobile carriers.

But we haven't .. just the big four usually. So maybe it's an issue that a
mobile carrier, by law, must offer a reasonable foot-print Australia-wide?

In that case, why not allow city sims. That is, i'd be happy to slip a new
sim card in my phone, if it meant that the rates from that say Sydney-only
carrier where fantastic .. all on cheap and cheerful piggy-backed antennas.

Come on Aussie! Our big carriers need *serious competition* re mobile data
