Company: The Art of Service

Job Title: JUNIOR TRAINER/EDUCATOR

Description: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD FUN AT WORK?

Like a squirrel storing nuts for the long winter ahead, so too do we post job ads at pretty much the only time of year when nobody is actually looking for a job. Because when the time comes and there’s a mad rush of people dying to look at an employment advertorial, BAM!, there we are baby, right up the top!

It’s Autumn, Winter 2008 is almost upon us. 2008. Two nought nought eight. Hard to believe, isn’t it, that just over eight years ago killer robots from the future came back in time to screw with the clocks on our desktop computers, causing cash registers to fling themselves open without warning; planes plummeting from the sky because suddenly it’s the year 1828 and they haven’t been invented yet; crumbling economies; traffic lights going out of sync so that your pizza is late; dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria! But from the ashes of our war against the cyborgs we have rebuilt and replenished our planet to the point that it’s almost as though 2000 never even happened.

Which is a good thing really because my wallet can’t afford any more of that Symantec Anti-Y2K software. Hey, did you notice that you can still buy stuff like that, in like the bargain bin at Harvey Norman? Y2K software marked down from like $150 to just $29.95? Eight years after the software was even remotely relevant? Nice work, morons. That IT Degree that you were studying for for a quarter of your natural life really paid off.

Point is, if you’ve been paying attention, is that we have a requirement for IT Management Educators and Trainers as of now. Our clients are doing a thing where a bunch of their people need to be certified and trained in ITIL (that’s Information Technology Infrastructure Library, wiseass) processes and activities, and your role as a Trainer/Educator will be to ensure that this education is the best course they ever attended
while being as seamless, painless and trouble-free as humanly possible.

This will involve things like developing and delivering the programs, working closely with customers and your great bunch of colleagues, and so on and so forth.

We will invest in your BRIGHT future by getting you certified up to the highest level of IT Management certification "ITIL Managers Certificate", while at the same time you invest in helping to make this company the best it can be.

Here’s the skills and attributes that you will require in order to succeed in this role:

• A University degree.

• Experience designing and developing all forms of instruction: leader-led, self-paced (computer, web), and formal/informal collaborative learning environments.

• High levels of motivation, communication and presentation skills.

• Strong writing and editing skills with a high-attention to detail.

• A passion for learning and growth.

• Assertiveness and the ability to come up to speed rapidly.

Familiarity with multimedia instructional design software is a plus.

This is a permanent role paying, based on how quickly we can have you run which courses, around $50K-60K per year, commensurate with experience. About 60% of your work will be performed interstate and overseas, but look at it as a bit of an adventure. At least you’ll be moving around under your own power. I mean, not moving interstate or overseas, obviously. The company will fly you around. But there’s probably going to be a bit of walking involved.
