Metadata, Semantics and Interoperability in Practice
www.metadataopenforum.org
11th Open Forum for Metadata Registries
Radisson Plaza Hotel, Sydney, NSW Australia
19 - 22 May 2008

About the Forum:

As the topics of inter-operability and semantic technologies attract
increasing interest it is timely that Sydney hosts the eleventh Open
Forum about topics related to metadata, registries, semantics,
inter-operability and related standards and information management
practices. The forum is a metadata bazaar by those actively involved in
the creation and use of metadata standards. It brings different metadata
perspectives and purposes to one place to share developments and
exchange viewpoints. It has strong links to emerging semantic approaches
and technologies. It covers a range of metadata types including those
supporting inter-operability and semantics in prototype and operational
systems.

The event includes workshops on semantic and other metadata
technologies, together with Poster Sessions exhibiting major research
being undertaken in this area.

Who should attend?

Those with a deeper interest in using metadata standards in their
systems and to assist in their work. This forum is of particular
interest to anyone working within sectors where information and data
interchange and re-use are critical, such as healthcare, transportation,
manufacturing, statistics, government and the environment from a
business or an IT perspective.

Programme (www.metadataopenforum.org/index.php?id=3,0,0,1,0,0)

The programme has good international and local content. There are 68
presentations from 12 different countries, of which 70% are from
overseas. Local content is from premier Australian research
organisations such as Australian Government, Universities and others
including CSIRO, NICTA, ABS, National Archives, AIHW, and Fuji Xerox
Australia.
