(This is a lightly edited transcription of a speech I [Shirky] gave 
at the Web 2.0 conference, April 23, 2008.)

Shirky is former Silicon Alley Reporter columnist whose book  Here 
Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations,came 
out in February 2008, from Penguin Press. Here Comes Everybody is 
about what happens when people are given the tools to do things 
together, without needing traditional organizational structures.
