Another mailer for OSX that I can recommend is gyazmail

Used it for several years
(Not using it at the moment as I got a new box and I thought, well,  I  
may as well see if I still hate Mail as much as I used to. and I  
certainly am not loving it!)
Not free, though - shareware
The nice man (who's name I have forgotten) does offer support and  
writes good English.
