ahhh .. it's a touch screen calibration problem, where a touch of the screen
was registering a touch a few inches below where your finger actually was.
By coincidence, sometimes it was a republican nominee at that offset,
sometimes it was a democrat nominee, and depending on where you touched the
screen you might even be presented with the "write in" option.
