One issue is that the iPhone doesn't use the "handheld" formatting
option built into web standards.
So even if a web designer has carefully provided a special low
bandwidth version of the web pages, using smaller images and the
like, the iPhone doesn't use it. There is a work around suggested by
Apple, but this will not work for web pages which assume well behaved
devices
