How do you approach technology as a women's
rights activist? Does your organisation see the
internet as a useful tool, as media, as a
political space to be occupied? How are you using
information and communication technologies (ICT)
for movement building? How have you been able to
overcome access and infrastructure obstacles? How
do you address new challenges to our privacy,
security, and right to live free of violence that
have emerged with the growth of the internet?

Dear friends,
The APC WNSP is gathering case studies of women's
organisations' experiences in using technologies
creatively and strategically in order to inform
our upcoming Feminist Tech Exchange (FTX).

We'd like to highlight experiences from APC WNSP
members. For example, we have thought of the
Lidera blog training project led by Patty Peña in
Chile; the advocacy work that Marie-Helene has
been involved in around female genital
mutilation; digital storytelling workshops run by
Women'sNet; our Take Back the Tech! campaign or a
project using the Gender Evaluation Methodology
for Internet and ICT Initiatives (GEM).

We'd also love to hear from beyond the immediate
APC WNSP community, and are anxious for any
suggestions you may have from your networks or contacts.

We are interested in the way people are using
technology strategically, but we also want to
explore the values that underpin their approach,
and the interconnections with women's rights and feminist practice.

Who should we interview? Can you suggest other
experiences from your networks or friends? Please
send us specific contacts to be able to profile
organisations, individuals and experiences from all corners of the world.

Can you suggest a case study writer? Let us know
if you'd be willing to be interviewed, or, if
you'd like to be a writer. Case studies will be
between 1500 to 2000 words, and expected to be completed in October 2008.

We need your feedback as quickly as possible!
Anyone interested please contact Jac sm Kee at
<mailto:jac at apcwomen.org>jac at apcwomen.org, or
Erika Smith at <mailto:erika at apcwomen.org>erika at apcwomen.org

Thank you!
Jac and Erika
