I don't think so. Hopefully the great resources of Link will provide
references but my memory tells me that auDA was completed and providing
services long before the Gov started thinking about possibly being
involved in the management of the Australian domain name system. And
thank God they kept at a distance and let auDA get on with it's work.
Now, having said that. It appears to me (and IMHO) that in it's
enthusiasm to provide a competition model, auDA have created a monster
in that the board of auDA, and most of their policy panels, seem to have
a fair number of registrars as members (as stakeholders of course). When
I was on an auDA Names Policy Review panel a few years back that seemed
very odd to me. Some might even use the words 'conflict of interest'.
But I've been on Link long enough now to know that others will have the
exact info and references to such things. I bow to your superior skills
and look forward to reading the info.
Cheers.
