[LINK] No proof (yet) that Chinese botnet now attacking Melb Intl film site

Linkers might be interested in a story I've published online today where the
developer of the online ticketing system for the Melbourne International
Film Festival web-site has spoken about the attacks on the site.

The guts of it is that IP blocks have stopped attacks on the site from
Chinese based machines.

But the attacks are continuing and are now coming from locally based
machines.

These are presumed to be remotely controlled from China through machines
that have not been secured by their owners.

A Chinese botnet in other words.

Interestingly, he said that Uighur groups as well as Chinese are involved in
the attacks.
