Whilst agreeing, it's also pretty clear that word processing is
over-used. Have a hammer, everything looks like...
The author does have a point. We're moving from an age where
the Word document was the sole electronic text format for
business (which was true to the point that competitors agonised
over .DOC compatibility) to an age where there is a range of
formats and repositories for electronic text.
It's not just wikis, but web publishing platforms, blogs, forums,
and so on. And you've got to wonder to what extent text itself
is being marginalised -- you can write a brochure describing
your product, or you can have a video demonstrating your product
(and in reality you'd do both, since they have different levels
of engagement by the prospective purchaser).
