Here's another fine example of world government departments, and energy.
Although one always felt exporting native-wood-chips was dumb, how about
exporting firewood? In terms of carbon a fireplace is the worst heating.
So, how about fire-wood that is first heated to 160° for 75 minutes then
shipped thousands of klm, and THEN it is burnt in an open fire-place :-(
Do hope the Canadian firewood-export-industry meets a very sudden demise.
> Canadian firewood must be heated -- before it's burned
The United States Dept. of Agriculture issued a federal order that all
firewood from Canada has to be heat-treated to kill pests before it can
be imported into the United States. The firewood has to be heated to a
minimum temperature of 160° for 75 minutes ..
