Picking up on Karl and Glen's exchange a few emails back...when I did
Chemistry a long time back, I distinctly remember our tutor going through
the use of a fire extinguisher and pointing out that you needed to know
how to use the device before hand, not read the instructions after the fire
had started.
I am guilty of owning several first aid kits, but haven't read the instructions
and am relying on my girl guide training and awareness of an extreme level of
squirmishness.
With insurance requirements, after 20 years as a potter and a lot longer for
others, we suddenly all had to do OH&S training.
Most Days people leave their houses to go to the shops, work, school. We lock up
against burglars. Houses on Stilts protect life and property from floods.
Perhaps we need to be able to secure our belongings, or at least a core part of
them. Let the bushfire run its course and then be able to return. We need
firesafes not bunkers and temporary accomodation.
