In post-combustion technologies, the challenge is in capturing the 
carbon dioxide.  As I understand it, the sheer volume of flue gases 
defeats current technologies.  The best I've seen catches only 2% of the 
CO2.

The publicity speaks grandly of (as I remember) 84% reductions but they 
seem always to concentrate on storage, ignoring capture.  Account for 
the energy cost of capture and storage and 'clean coal' starts to look 
very dirty indeed.
