The cynic in me thinks the minister will similarly cancel the $4.9b
for the NBN infrastructure.

$7.5b slashed from infrastructure fund

The amount of money to be spent on national infrastructure projects
has been revised down.

Last year the Federal Government allocated $20 billion to its Building
Australia Fund for infrastructure projects.

But a Senate hearing today has heard that just over $12.5b has been allocated.

The Government says any further spending from the fund will depend on
budgetary circumstances.

Greens Senator Scott Ludlam, questioning Communications Minister
Stephen Conroy during the hearing, called on the Government to clarify
what has happened to the rest of the money.

Senator Conroy says the lesser figure is due to revisions in budget surpluses.
