Me, I tried explaining to one client why they wanted to build physically
separate networks (for a mine IT system versus process control network(s)).
Their IT people were happy with the notion of being able to easily log
in to process control desktops anywhere on the mine. This worked great
until the hubs on the process control network started being unhappy with
multicasted ghost traffic, for example.

Because this is how IT is taught, implemented and paid for. Welcome to 2009.
