AUDA:  Australia and New Zealand Internet Best Practice Awards  2009

The Awards recognise organisations, businesses, groups and individuals in
Australia and New Zealand that have made significant contributions
towards the security, openness, diversity & accessibility of the Internet

The Categories for this year’s awards are:

* Best Security Initiative *

– consider entering this category if you are involved in:

•online authentication and identification
•educating users about online personal safety
•protecting vulnerable users (such as children)
•educating users about keeping themselves safe and avoiding online fraud
•enhancing the security of networks
•protecting the integrity of users’ privacy
•protecting users against identity theft
•creating innovative responses to security threats
•reducing threats such as spam and viruses
•developing solutions to security threats and building trust and 
confidence in the online environment.
 

* Best Openness Initiative *

– consider entering this category if you are involved in:

•offering public or community services online
•educating Internet users of all ages and experience levels
•enabling users to benefit from increased access to online materials or 
information
•bringing citizens closer to parliamentarians or Government.
 

* Best Access Initiative * 

– consider entering this category if you are involved in:

•enabling access in rural or disadvantaged regions
•reducing the cost of access, providing hardware or connectivity 
•bringing socially disadvantaged groups online
•introducing new users to the benefits of the Internet
•promoting interoperability or adaptability to give access for all
•bringing the benefits of the Internet to developing countries
 

* Best Diversity Initiative *

– consider entering this category if you are involved in:

•providing tools that assist in the translation of web content into other 
languages
•developing methods to facilitate access for those challenged by 
disability or lack of literacy in English
•promoting or serving diversity of cultures
•delivering multilingual content to relevant communities
•assisting expressions of culture and identity through multilingual or 
local language content
 

* Best Youth Initiative *

– initiatives that are:

•eligible for entry under any of the four main categories
•undertaken (or led) by an Australian or New Zealander who is under the 
age of 21.
 

How to Enter

Choose a category and submit a 1,000 word document describing how you, or 
your organisation, have improved the online experience in that category 
and in what ways you believe your example constitutes best practice.

Make sure to include a completed Entry Form and a separate short 
statement describing you or your organisation, your logo and photographs 
of your initiative in practice by the closing date of 31 August 2009.

Completed entries can be sent to bestpractice at bestpracticeawards.org.au
