Funnily enough ... my ears are crap and I know it. Rock and roll, the cicadas of
tinnitus, and so on.

But the artefacts of MP3, esp at lower bitrates, are not just in 'lost
frequencies above [arbitrary number]'. They're in odd interactions in
frequencies well within my limited range.

(Mind you ... I also remember at least one producer whose rule was to make
everyone listen to the finished product through four-inch speakers, so that
they'd understand what it was likely to sound like in the car and in the kitchen.)
