Linkers, for your info.  Our recent use of twitter and youtube for the
public sphere conference was very interesting. It changed the dynamic
of how people participated in the event.

We are running a panel session across multiple venues between four
guest panelists.

You can join using one of the two modes:

1) Active participation (connect via video and participate in
interactive discussion) - Requests for interactive participation will
be honoured on a first come, first served basis

2) View only and Twitter questions  (connect via video but your audio
is muted by default, you may ask questions via Twitter) - a Twitter
stream for questions will be established to allow for engaging with
the panel.

TOPIC:
User generated content sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia and
micro/macro blogging services (eg Blogspot, Wordpress and Twitter to
name just a few) have been driving record traffic demands and changing
the landscape of social media and online interactions across the
world. Join us for a panel discussion on how citizen journalists are
driving traffic patterns across research and education networks such
as AARNet.

ABOUT THE PANEL MEMBERS :

Nate Cochrane
(Editor in Chief: Haymarket Media)
Nathan is an Australian technology journalist and Editor-in-Chief for
IT publications CRN Australia and iTNews, both of which are published
by Haymarket Group. Cochrane previously edited the NEXT IT section in
The Age and Sydney Morning Herald newspapers. Prior to this, Cochrane
edited the IT section of The West Australian newspaper in Perth in
1996 after a stint as its communications roundsman and general
reporter.

John Cokley
(Academic Staff: UQ School of Journalism and Communication)
Dr John Cokley’s research, publishing and teaching covers the areas of
innovative journalism products and platforms, and innovative
approaches to media audiences. Since leaving his 20-industry career as
a journalist (writer, subeditor and website developer) with News
Corporation in 2002, he has completed his doctoral thesis and authored
or co-authored more than 20 articles and papers for international and
Australian refereed journals and conferences, and co-edited the volume
"I, Journalist" with Dr Lee Duffield (Pearson, 2006) contributing to
the fields of media education, news production and delivery, and new
product development in journalism.

Elizabeth Egan
(Industry Fellow: UQ School of Journalism and Communication)
Elizabeth has 25 years experience working in the media as a journalist
and senior television producer. Her career has spanned both the
commercial and non-commercial sectors.

Cameron Reilly
(Founder: The Podcast Network)
Cameron is a blogger, podcaster and entrepreneur best known for his
co-founding of The Podcast Network, a podcasting business with
programming from around the world. Along with his business interests,
Reilly is also involved in various facets of the digital media space,
including MODM, Melbourne's Online Digital Media forum, and is a
frequent commentator on online media issues. Reilly has been called
one of the "40 Biggest Players Of Australia's Digital Age".

TESTING
Pre-testing is to be completed between 15th -17th June to ensure that
all details supplied on registration are correct and any configuration
issues are identified before the conference starts.
