I guess I must be getting old and cynical. Coz when I view the Chinese
model - the top 1% of the Top 1% gets to go overseas for degrees - I eye
it jealously and wish our governemnt had the foresight and vision to do
likewise.

A (not so recent - about '95 I think) Harvard "water cooler/ashtray
gathering" analysis concluded that companies that encouraged staff to
mingle and cross fertilize around the ashtray or watercooler, were more
successful than those that banned such gatherings.
Imagine a country that is staffed at its highest levels with the
graduates from the top universities globally. (In about fifteen years
time....).

Basically folks - I'm kinda glad Im fifty. The economic servitude
awiting our offspring is not a pleasant muse.

Examples of this are Law Student, (Bo yu Chi) Uni of Sydney, Honours,
class of 98, Now President of the Tsienjen Development Park (the largest
in China) at 43 years old - Home of the MIT (JV) Pebble Bed Nuclear
Reactor and numerous other nifty things.

Yes, Australian Universities are selling our future, based on the
Governments need to commercialise Academia.
I would dearly like to see a 50% balance at least brought back into our
most prestigous learning institutions and for (B)degrees to be less
rubber stamped automatic processes. (NB I make no such claim about
Masters or Doctorates.)

But back on topic for a big close.....

Top Ten Truths About the Digital Ecosystem by Geoffrey Moore -

In short - the crux of the Digital Ecosystem is that we may have to
redefine content copyright - yet again. Or the way in which we consider
History. - It will be a lot harder for future generations to be sold a
"convenient history". In other words - in the words of Imparja
Television..... The following content may have images or the voices of
deceased people.

Brought to you by the Internet - 24 hours a day, non-stop-truth.
