[LINK] Internet Filtering SLAs

A Friday afternoon thought re Internet Filtering.

The government likes Service Level Agreements, that's how they make sure
service providers perform properly.

If they are serious about achieving their policy, that it is a
worthwhile policy and believe they can fully and properly implement it,
why don't they enter into a SLAs with the Australian People?

Here's a few:

* For every URL which should not be blocked but which is blocked:
$10million payable to the domain owner.

* For every URL which should be blocked but which is not blocked:
$10million payable to a range of charities (Not the domain owner. By
definition, government money should not go to sites that should be banned)

* If there are any serious unintended consequences of the policy, or the
implementation does not reflect policy, as determined by the high court,
the Prime Minister and Minister for Communications will resign and forgo
their parliamentary pensions.

I'd be interested in how they argument against such an approach.

It might show how serious they are about the whole thing.
