Yes, there are developers that stupid. I lose count of the number of times a
page will not load because something's wrong with either the ad server or the
analytics. I sit waiting, looking at Firefox saying "contacting
googleanalytics.com ... waiting for googleanalytics.com ... contacting ..." etc.

On the matter of the cloud, and noting the side-stoush between Jan and Stil. On
the one hand, there's no real difference, except in capacity and flexibility and
scope, between the cloud and the old world of the bureau.

However, try reading the contracts associated with cloud offerings; they are
completely one-sided. I realise that a "real" data centre is probably a safer
place to store data than the local hard drive; but for a bank to sign up for a
service which says "give us your data and we won't promise availability" is
really stupid.
