I have found this site consistently interesting - lively, thoughtful,
writing about the economic crisis:

  http://market-ticker.org

A good place to start is:

  http://market-ticker.org/archives/857-The-Bezzle-Defined.html

quoting John Galbraith on embezzlement. Some of the best articles,
but not the one above, are on http://ticker-classics.org .

Karl Denninger (http://www.denninger.net) is an investor who had or
still has his own successful IT businesses, including one devoted to
spam filtering. He lives in Niceville Florida and robustly
criticises the policies of both the Republican and Democrats. The
blog site uses the Serendipity (http://www.s9y.org). There are no
comments by readers on this site.

There is also a discussion forum http://tickerforum.org which I have
found to be interesting when I have had time to read it. There is a
thread for every article on market-ticker.org. This forum uses his
own software, written in C: AKCS-WWW

  http://ticker.denninger.net/faq.html#details

It runs on FreeBSD and uses PostgreSQL. He has been writing forum
software since 1982.

He also speaks on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/kdenninger and
has a 7:25 video of a recent Space Shuttle launch.
